This year, the rain won’t be putting a damper on the holiday celebrations at Little Saints Orphanage in Lagos, Nigeria. Thanks to the generous contributions to Forever Giving from thousands of supporters like you throughout the year, the orphans that call Little Saints their home now have a newly renovated facility to take pride in – just in time for the holiday season.

The 3-month renovation project funded by Forever Giving included a complete roof and ceiling replacement, new kitchen cabinets, a brick partition to prevent flooding, 200 new chairs for their common areas and 20 new wardrobes for their dormitories.

Gary Shreeve, Vice President of Africa for Forever Living Products, attended the final inspection and presentation of the Forever Giving improvement project; representing the many Forever Distributors who support the charity from all over the world. Gary was joined by Jackson Adagala, Forever Living’s Director of African Operations, Caroline Tay, Country Manager of Forever Living Products Nigeria, and the Founder of Little Saints Orphanage, Rev. Dele George, who expressed her appreciation of Forever Giving’s partnership:

“We deeply appreciate the new roof, ceilings, chairs, kitchen cabinets and wardrobes funded by Forever Giving. Your contribution has raised the standard of our home tremendously and has given the environment a beautiful outlook. It has also boosted the confidence and morale of all the children. It has strengthened their faith in our love for them. This improvement has inspired the children to aspire for greater things and reach for greater heights. It has encouraged them to appreciate excellence, as well as make them enviable and admired amongst their peers. The stigmatization of orphans is still ongoing in our country, but the high standard of care and education at the Little Saints Orphanage has made it easier for our children to utilize opportunities available to them outside the orphanage.”

As 2011 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of people who continue to help make projects like this possible through your generous donations to Forever Giving. A special thank you to the Distributors of Forever Living Products – your support helps us improve the quality of children’s lives.

All of us here at Forever Giving wish you and your family a very happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to Make a Difference in 2012.

Thank you.

Lagos, Nigeria – Forever Giving recently broke ground on its newest project, its first in Nigeria, where the non-profit organization has partnered with Little Saints Orphanage to assist with much-needed repairs to two branches of their facility.

Renovations are underway to repair the boys and girls dormitories in the Lagos neighborhoods of Akowonjo and Abule Egba. Projects include the construction of a new brick partition to prevent rain from flooding their kitchen area and the complete roof and ceiling replacement of their multipurpose hall, which has been leaking for months. Through the donation made by Forever Giving, Little Saints will also be able to purchase four new charcoal cookers, twenty new wardrobes for the boys dormitory and 200 chairs for their common areas, in addition to the aforementioned renovations.

With Forever Giving’s support, these much overdue improvements to Little Saints’ facilities will make it possible for the orphanage to continue the mission of their Founder, Rev. Dele George, to provide a safe, nurturing environment where the children of Lagos can find shelter, care, education, social development and eventual rehabilitation through fostering or adoption – making room for future generations of children in need to have the same opportunity to thrive.

The project is scheduled for completion in November 2011. Gary Shreeve, Vice President of Africa for Forever Living Products, will be in attendance to celebrate the orphanage’s updated facility.

About Little Saints Orphanage

Home to over 120 abused, abandoned and orphaned children, Little Saints was the first non-governmental, indigenous orphanage to be approved by the Lagos State Government, and it continues to be recognized as one of the most reputable and reliable orphanages registered with them. The success of their three-tiered rehabilitation program results in many orphans going up for adoption & fostering; making room for more underprivileged children, many who are weathering the storms in the streets of Lagos, to have a home and hope. Over one thousand children have benefitted from their program since its inception in 1994.

On April 17th, a group of Forever Living Products Distributors from the UK took to the streets of Vienna to raise funds and awareness for Forever Giving. Fondly nicknamed “the Intrepid Five”: Tammy Hobson, Hazel Loutsis, Phil Loutsis, Greg Davidson and Adrian Poynter all completed the 26.2 mile course in the Vienna City Marathon posting excellent times.

The charity run was the vision of Adrian Poynter, a Forever Living Products Recognized Manager, whose goal was to recruit his Forever Living friends from across Europe to “volunteer” to run in an effort to raise funds for Forever Giving. With the help of the Head Office staff of Forever Living Products UK, they set up a Facebook fan page “The Forever Giving Vienna Marathon” and used it to stay connected with runners and supporters. In addition, the event was promoted on Forever Living’s corporate Facebook fan page, Forever Living’s European Rally website and through the Head Office of Forever Living Products Germany.

Congratulations to Team Forever Giving – you did it! A huge thank you to everyone who showed their support, particularly the British contingent of fanatical supporters who shouted and waved their flags rallying the tired runners.

For news on the next Forever Giving marathon, stay tuned to the Forever Giving Vienna Marathon Facebook fan page.

Greg Davidson
“Running and completing the Vienna marathon, my first one, was a very personal journey for me and I am hugely proud of my achievement. What made it extra special was running as part of the Forever Giving UK team and the lasting friendships I have made.”

Tammy Hobson
“It has been a long term ambition to run a marathon and once I became aware, in December 2010, that the Vienna marathon was happening at the same time as the Forever Living Profit Share Rally I saw it as an ideal opportunity to fulfill that dream. By taking part in the Marathon I have not only achieved a long term goal but also have the knowledge that the money I raised in sponsorship, and matched from our profit share cheque, has helped so many others less fortunate. I would like to thank all those that sponsored me, supported and encouraged me throughout.”

Hazel Loutsis
“Training and running in the Vienna marathon, my first, has been life-changing for me. I’ve had to reassess my belief about myself – a few months ago I would have said ‘I could never run a marathon.’ I found a 16-week training programme for marathon beginners, focused on the goal, followed the plan, and it worked! I’ve been overwhelmed by the support, enthusiasm and generosity of the people in my life. The fun, excitement and camaraderie on the day was brilliant. I want to do it all over again!”

Phil Loutsis
“Running the marathon was fantastic. It was the culmination of several months of training. The event itself was really exciting and sharing with my friends was the icing on the cake. I did most of my training in the winter in Yorkshire, England – that means rain, wind and a lot of hills. So running a lovely flat road on a sunny day was not so bad. Run a marathon. It’s awesome.”

Adrian Poynter
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that was involved in helping the five UK runners get to the starting line and beyond. Special thanks to the UK supporters that were out on the streets in Vienna cheering us on. However, it was the other four runners who need to be celebrated in their achievements: Greg, Tammy, Phil & Hazel, because it was YOU that spurred me onto finish. Thank you each & every one of you.”

Meet Aloe Baby.

To us at Forever Giving, he represents the generosity of a remarkable group of people – the Distributors of Forever Living Products. To them, he symbolizes something more. Perhaps it’s his unmistakable golden yellow color and brown cap that is reminiscent of their beloved Forever product: Forever’s pure, stabilized Aloe Vera Gel.

Maybe he’s simply won them over with his sweet rosy cheeks and cute little pot belly? Whatever the case may be, he represents a brighter future for tomorrow, and he’s quickly becoming a favorite of Forever Giving supporters around the world!

Aloe Baby made his initial debut in March at Forever Living’s 2011 Asian Rally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where Distributors of Forever Living Products showed their support of our most recent project in Japan by donating 100% of the proceeds to Forever Giving from each Aloe Baby and Forever Giving t-shirt sold to our Japan Relief efforts. Since then, he travelled to Vienna, Austria where he was welcomed by more than 11,000 Distributors attending the 2011 World Rally in April. They too raised money and awareness for Japan from the proceeds of each Aloe Baby and Forever Giving t-shirt sold. Most recently, Aloe Baby has been spotted around the globe, often in the hands of Forever Giving’s youngest supporters, the true “Aloe Babies” – children of Forever Living’s Distributors. Many of them have shared photos of their Aloe Babies with us through Forever Living’s Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/foreverfan. To see some of our favorites, click below.

We want to thank the Distributors of Forever Living Products for their continuous support of Forever Giving and the worthy projects that Aloe Baby represents. If you too would like to purchase an Aloe Baby in support of Forever Giving, keep an eye on the Forever Living events in your area. We’ve heard that he might just make an appearance at a local Rally near you!

Dear Forever Friends,

Like all of you, I have been stunned by the recent events in Japan. I recall waking early to the news that there had been a massive earthquake just off the northeastern coast of Japan. My first reaction when I hear of disasters and troubles throughout the world is to do a quick mental inventory of where our staff and distributors are. I recalled immediately that we have large numbers of dedicated distributors that live in the affected area, and we began the process of trying to locate our Country Manager in Japan to see what was happening and how we could help. Rjay Lloyd and his wife Annie were also in Tokyo, and after a nervous couple of hours we were able to contact them and get an assessment of their safety and the situation there. Over 300km south of where the earthquake struck, Rjay and Annie felt the quake, which still registered over 7 on the Richter Scale at the office in Toyko. He told us buildings were swaying over 18″ off center. Thankfully our office in Tokyo suffered only superficial damage and no one was hurt. However, it quickly became apparent that this was more than ‘another earthquake’. It was a defining moment in world history. With the advice of our team in Tokyo, we reluctantly made the decision to postpone the Japanese Rally that was scheduled for the next week. With this decision made we were able to focus our efforts on doing what we could to help.

Miraculously, we are able to report that so far we have heard of no loss of life amongst our distributors. Sadly, though, many have lost their homes and ALL of their possessions; in some instances, their entire villages have been washed away. Obviously this level of devastation has created a massive need for humanitarian assistance, and I am proud to let you know that Forever has not been standing by. We immediately emptied our warehouse there of our products and gave them to our distributors, who have been an excellent distribution network making sure the product is getting to the people in need. We have sent truckloads of products, food and water from the south up to the stricken areas. Just yesterday we sent two more truckloads of food and water to those in need. We will continue to do what we can to help. But, without your help, we can only do so much.

Please take a moment today to give what you can. We understand there are needs throughout the world and appreciate that it might not be a good time to give to another ’cause’. However, all we ask is that you give what you can. The amount is not important; what is important is that we give something.

Thank You for Joining Us,

Gregg Maughan – President – Forever Living Products International, LLC

We are very excited to announce that Forever Giving has chosen to support Instituto de Marques Salamanca (IMDS), an organization that works with low-income families living in the Santa Teresa area of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Forever Giving’s financial funding will help IMDS carry out its mission to make families stronger in Santa Teresa.

IMDS’s integrated approach to child development focuses on strengthening the entire family unit by not only providing for children but their parents as well. In an area heavily populated with families made up of three to five children and mostly single mothers, IMDS provides childcare through their Creche Cantinho Feliz center or “Happy Home” for children ages 2 to 6 years old. This service is scarce in an area with only three childcare centers for 14,500 residents. In addition to receiving care, education and social development, the children are fed three meals a day to ensure that they do not go hungry. For many of these children, these are the only meals they’ll have all day.

To reach beyond the child and make an impact on the entire family unit, IMDS provides mothers with work opportunity by teaching them how to use their creative skills to generate an income. These lessons in entrepreneurship led to the formation of the brand Toque de Mao or “Touch of the Hand” which markets their handmade art.

We want to thank Forever Living Products Brazil and the distributors of Forever Living Products worldwide who have generously donated their time, money and products to support this project in Brazil. Thank you for helping us make a lasting difference for the families of Santa Teresa.

To mark Forever Giving’s first anniversary last month, we continued our mission to “Make a Difference” in the lives of children around the world by focusing our charitable efforts in the country of Uganda.

As you may already know, malaria is the number one cause of death in children of Africa. What you may not know is that malaria-infected mosquitoes bite at night, so one of the most effective ways to prevent the transmission of malaria is to sleep under insecticide-treated mosquito nets. Unfortunately, there are many areas in Africa where much of the population does not have the means to purchase this type of protection, particularly in Uganda, a country that ranks third-highest in Africa for malaria-related deaths and where only 10% of children sleep under a net.

After learning of these devastating statistics, Forever Giving committed to raise donations in order to purchase these mosquito nets for the underprivileged children of Uganda. At the Super Rally in Denver, distributors from Forever Living Products generously donated to help protect these children from the ill-effects of malaria. With their help, Forever Giving purchased 7,000 high quality, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and on September 26th, I had the privilege to represent Forever Giving and Forever Living distributors as we distributed these nets in the slum villages of Kampala, Uganda.

Together with volunteers from Forever Living Products Uganda, the Ministry of Health and local authorities, we walked to the slum areas of Kivulu and Kitanga as well as the Mulago National Referral Hospital to put these nets in the hands of the pregnant women and children who need them the most. This was an emotional and life-changing experience for me, and I have never felt more proud to be a member of the Forever Family.

On behalf of Forever Giving, I want to say thank you to all of our wonderful distributors around the Forever World. Without you, this would not have been possible. With your help, Forever Giving’s impact continues to reach children in all areas of the world, and I can assure you, we are making a Forever difference!
