More than $116,000 is donated to support Hope & Homes for Children’s efforts in Ukraine

Shortly after the war in Ukraine began, the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation went into action.

The foundation sought to partner with an organization on the ground in Ukraine helping the country’s children. That partner was Hope and Homes for Children, a nonprofit organization on a mission to be the catalyst for eliminating institutional care for children globally.

In Ukraine, Hope and Homes for Children is protecting children through emergency foster care and small group homes. It is also working toward rebuilding family-style homes that were bombed and shelled to keep Ukrainian children from being re-institutionalized.

To date, the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation has donated $116,157 to support these efforts in Ukraine.

Initially, in April 2022, the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation received a $50,000 donation gift from Forever Living Products. With the help of this donation, Hope and Homes for Children aided over 4,000 families and 8,000 children. In total, there are approximately 100,000 children in Ukraine’s orphanages — so there is more work to be done.

“The refugee crisis that was created overnight in Ukraine is dreadful and completely unnecessary,” says Forever President Gregg Maughan. “If we can help in any way, whether that is a donation, a walk, a helping hand at a border, or even a prayer offered, we can all do a little bit. If that helps even one child, then that will have been worth it.”

To continue to support Hope and Homes for Children, the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation also launched a Unity Race for Ukraine from April to June 2022. This virtual fitness challenge, along with other donations, raised an additional $66,157 to aid Hope and Homes for Children.

Anyone could join this global initiative that raised money through tracking distance for fitness activities such as walking, running or cycling. People could make an impact in two ways: by participating or by sponsoring a participant through a one-time donation or ongoing donations for tracked distance.

Through the foundation’s total donations, Hope and Homes for Children has delivered over 75 tons of food, plus medicine and other essential items, to more than 5,000 families. And in the settlements worst affected by the occupation in the Kyiv region, Hope and Homes for Children is on track to deliver vital services and non-food items to 15,000 people, mainly children.

“Every penny you raised will help us deliver this kind of life-saving work to the most vulnerable families and to those children who are separated from family and facing this war alone,” says Hilary Thomas, Hope and Homes for Children’s Head of Corporate Partnerships. “Your community of champions has given us so much hope in these difficult times.”
